LEXINGTON, KY (May 8, 2025), On Saturday, May 10, letter carriers across the nation will once again partner with local organizations for the Annual Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the country. God’s Pantry Food Bank is proud to participate in this vital event, encouraging Central and Eastern Kentuckians to leave donations of non-perishable food items by their mailboxes for pickup by their letter carrier.
Last year, God’s Pantry Food Bank received more than 30,000 pounds of food through this drive — food that was immediately distributed to support families and individuals facing hunger across our region.
Hosted by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), Stamp Out Hunger has collected more than 1.9 billion pounds of food nationwide since its inception in 1993. The drive helps restock food pantries at a critical time of year when supplies often run low following the holiday season.
“Every can, every box, every bag makes a difference,” said Michael Halligan, President and CEO of God’s Pantry Food Bank. “The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is a powerful reminder that small acts of generosity, like leaving a bag of food by your mailbox, can help feed families and strengthen our communities.”
How to Participate:
Residents are encouraged to place non-perishable food donations in a bag and leave them near their mailbox before mail delivery on Saturday, May 10. Letter carriers will collect the donations for local food pantries and food banks, including God’s Pantry Food Bank.
Most-needed items include:
- Proteins, beans, peanut butter
- Breakfast items
- Vegetables and fruits
- Pasta and rice
- Soup and stews
Together, we can stamp out hunger and ensure that more Kentuckians have access to the food they need to thrive.
