God's Pantry Food Bank Announces Leadership Change

A New Chapter Begins at God’s Pantry Food Bank

At God’s Pantry Food Bank, our mission has always been rooted in hope—working to ensure our neighbors across Central and Eastern Kentucky have access to the nutritious food they need to live healthy, active lives. Today, we share news of a leadership transition that marks the beginning of a new chapter for our organization.

After more than a decade of dedicated service, President and CEO Michael Halligan has stepped away from his role. During his tenure, Halligan helped strengthen God’s Pantry Food Bank’s capacity to serve communities across the Commonwealth, expand access to food assistance, and advance our mission of reducing hunger.

“We are grateful for Mike’s years of leadership, dedication, and service to the communities we serve,” said Dr. Andrew Henderson, Chair of the Board of Directors. “We sincerely thank him for his contributions and wish him and his family all the best.”

Steady Leadership for the Road Ahead

As we look to the future, we are pleased to share that Danielle Bozarth has been appointed Interim President and CEO, effective immediately.

Danielle’s connection to God’s Pantry Food Bank spans more than 30 years—years defined by service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to our mission. Having grown alongside the organization and helped shape its impact across Central and Eastern Kentucky, she brings deep institutional knowledge, trusted leadership, and a passion for serving others.

“Danielle’s experience, knowledge, and dedication to our mission will be invaluable as she leads this organization during this important transition,” Henderson said.

For Bozarth, stepping into this role is both a professional honor and a personal commitment.

“It is an honor to serve God’s Pantry Food Bank in this role and continue the work that means so much to me,” she said. “I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an incredible team and dedicated partners who care deeply about our neighbors. Together, we will continue moving our mission forward—ensuring that children, families, and seniors across Central and Eastern Kentucky have the support they need to thrive.”

Continuing the Work Together

While leadership may change, our mission remains constant.

Every day, God’s Pantry Food Bank provides critical food assistance through a network of more than 500 partner pantries and meal programs. Nearly 280,000 Kentuckians rely on this support each year, and it is made possible through the generosity and dedication of our staff, volunteers, donors, partner agencies, and community supporters.

As we move forward, our focus remains clear: creating a nourished life for every Kentuckian and ensuring no one has to face hunger alone.

We enter this new chapter with confidence, gratitude, and a renewed sense of purpose. Together, we will continue building stronger, healthier communities and advancing our shared commitment to feeding Kentucky communities.
