God’s Pantry Food Bank Annual Events Summary

Golf Fore the Hungry

Golf Fore the Hungry combines great food, fun, music, an auction and golf to support a very worthy cause HUNGER. All proceeds benefit Food for the Hungry and God’s Pantry Food Bank. A consortium of Christian churches in Central Kentucky has partnered with these charities to raise awareness while creating a new revenue source for each.

The two-day event includes a silent auction, dinner, live auction and entertainment on the opening night, followed by a lunch, golf scramble and awards dinner the following day. The 2009 event will be held August 30-31 at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.

All classes are from 7-9 p.m. The cost for the class is $40 per person, $30 of which is tax-deductible, and space is limited to 30 people per class. You must register and pay in advance. For more information, contact Susie Basham at God’s Pantry Food Bank (859)288-5332 or email Susie.

Food for Thought

Food for Thought is an effort to educate and inform as many people as we can about who is hungry in Kentucky, who God’s Pantry Food Bank is, and what we are doing to alleviate hunger. So many people know a little bit about what we do, but are still unaware of how far-reaching our programs are.

Food for Thought presentations can be customized to fit your time schedule. They can include a brief presentation about our programs, a video produced for God’s Pantry, and a warehouse tour for those sessions held at our facility.

Call Rebecca Wallace at (859)288-5325 or email Rebecca. to schedule your private Food for Thought session or to set up a Food for Thought session for your group, we can host you at our facilities on Jaggie Fox Way or bring the presentation to you.

Burgers ‘n Bikes

The 11th annual Burgers ‘N Bikes event is scheduled for Sunday, September 21st at Man o’ War Harley-Davidson, 2073 Bryant Road, Lexington from noon until 5:00 pm.

This family event features a motorcycle display featuring Harley-Davidsons and open classes and lots of great food! The event includes raffles, a live auction and many more activities for every age. The Bluegrass H.O.G. Chapter hosts the festivities with all proceeds benefiting God’s Pantry Food Bank.

Crop Walk

Crop Walk is a fun-filled, scenic walk downtown to benefit hungry families in our community and worldwide. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon in September. This year’s event is September 28!

God’s Pantry invites patrons to participate in the CROP Walk, sponsored by the Downtown Christian Unity Task Force. Each year, 75% of the proceeds will benefit hunger causes worldwide and 25% of the proceeds will benefit God’s Pantry Food Bank. As an individual walker or team (corporate, church, school group, etc.) your participation will make a difference.

For more information on the CROP Walk and materials for forming a team, visit www.cropwalk.org or contact Susie Basham at God’s Pantry Food Bank (859)288-5332 or email Susie.
Basket Brigade

The basket assembly for our Thanksgiving feeding is one of the most popular and fun events of the year. Where else can you put together Thanksgiving dinner for thousands in just a few short hours? In an effort to raise more awareness and funds for food programs, we coordinate the Brigade much like a walk-a-thon.

Those that participate will contribute a small registration fee and will receive a customized t-shirt created specifically for the event. Each participant will be encouraged to raise pledges from co-workers and friends, helping spread the word that there are folks in need in our community, and that we can do something simple yet meaningful to help.

Cool t-shirts, fun prizes, and a great volunteer activity make this event perfect for families, corporate teams, church groups, or individuals. MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW FOR THIS YEAR’S EVENTSaturday, November 14, 2009.
