Taj Ethnic Gourmet® Brand Issues a Voluntary Recall for Certain Retail Lots of Indian Sauces Due to Potential Undeclared Peanut Allergen
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — January 9, 2015 — LAKE SUCCESS, NY — Taj Ethnic Gourmet® brand has issued a voluntary and precautionary recall of certain lots of Indian Sauces due to undeclared peanut allergen in a spice provided by a third-party supplier. There have been no reported illnesses related to this voluntary recall.
These products were manufactured by IAM International, Inc., who was notified by the supplier that cumin used in the products had tested positive for peanut.
People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. There have been no consumer complaints or reports of allergic reactions at this time.

The best by date can be found on the side of the jar lid. The recalled products were distributed nationwide and through web orders.
Taj Ethnic Gourmet® brand is committed to providing the highest quality products and our top priority is the safety of our consumers. For this reason we are initiating this voluntary recall of the products. This recall is being made with the knowledge of the FDA.
Consumers do not need to return the product to the store where it was purchased. Instead, consumers at risk for peanut allergy that may have purchased one of these products are urged to dispose of the recalled product and its container. Please contact the Company at 1-866-367-9256 between the hours of 9AM to 7PM EST, Monday-Friday for a replacement or refund, and with general inquiries.
* We believe that none of the products being recalled were processed or offered through the national office.
* We strongly encourage you to notify your agencies within one business day from receipt of this notice.
* ALL cased and uncased inventories, both at the member level and agency level, need to be checked. This product may have entered member and agency warehouses through salvage, local donations, TEFAP, local purchases, retail pickups, food drives, or other avenues.
