FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — January 23, 2015 — Huntsville, TX — REO Spice & Seasoning, INC Huntsville, TX is recalling certain REO Country Style Chili Seasoning packages after learning that one ingredient purchased from a supplier may contain peanut protein allergens that are not declared on the products’ ingredient statements. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall affects the following products:

These products are packaged in a clear plastic bag that has been heat sealed, and labelled. 2 and 4 oz bags have the lot number on the label; one pound bags have the lot number on the back of the bag.
The products were distributed nationwide via online sales, and in meat markets in Texas.
This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration after it was discovered that a single ingredient from a supplier used in the affected product was contaminated with peanut allergens.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products who have sensitivity to peanut allergens should return them to place of purchase for a full refund. * We strongly encourage you to notify your agencies within one business day from receipt of this notice.
* ALL cased and uncased inventories, both at the member level and agency level, need to be checked. This product may have entered member and agency warehouses through salvage, local donations, TEFAP, local purchases, retail pickups, food drives, or other avenues.
