I am excited and honored to join the team at God’s Pantry Food Bank. These passionate servants care deeply about the mission to address hunger, delivering hope to those in need. Their compassion is inspiring. I look forward to meeting, learning from, and working with our agency partners, along with the dedicated volunteers and the supportive donors who together make a profound difference in the lives of many. I can’t wait to get started!
Michael J. Halligan is the chief executive officer of God’s Pantry Food Bank, a member of Feeding America. He is responsible for overall administration, financial management, personnel, program development, public relations, government relations, community relations and board development for the Lexington based operation which serves 50 counties in central and eastern Kentucky.
He comes from the Chicago area where he most recently worked as a Senior VP with ConAgra Foods. He has demonstrated leadership that includes expert knowledge in food supply chain ability, business growth and mission delivery. His experience and enthusiasm is a great fit for the growing organization.
In addition to his vast experience in the commercial food industry, he also spent several years at the Food Bank’s national affiliation organization, Feeding America. While there, Michael was very instrumental in launching the Retail Store Donation Program. This effort to drastically decrease food waste is having a huge impact on 200 affiliate Food Banks nationwide. Just last year, at God’s Pantry Food Bank, six million of the 30 million pounds of food distributed came from retail store partners including Kroger, Walmart, Aldi, Target and others. Michael was on the leading edge of building the national program that makes this possible.
