School is coming to a close, and for many children and families it is a time to take a break, enjoy the sunshine, and plan your vacations and summer camps. Yet, for many children in Fayette County, summer is a time of great hunger. Without free school breakfast and lunches, many children are left without enough food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That’s where God’s Pantry Food Bank, alongside Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington Public Library, and Fresh Approach, are participating in the Summer Food Service Program, providing meals and snacks for kids throughout the summer.
On Wednesday, June 10th, 11:30am-12:30pm, we are inviting all of our legislators, supporters, and friends in the community to join us for our Hunger Free Summer Kick-Off Event, located at the Village Branch Public Library. Come out and celebrate our Summer Feeding Programs! Meet and greet with children will begin at 11:30, followed by a kick-off introduction at 12:00. Join us in celebrating our children and the fight to end hunger!
