God’s Pantry Food Bank today announced that longtime CEO Marian Guinn will be leaving the organization Aug. 24.

“For 19 years, Marian has approached every day and every task at God’s Pantry Food Bank with a servant’s heart and a coach’s zeal,” said Harvie Wilkinson, president of the GPFB Board of Directors. “Her passion for the cause of eliminating food insecurity and providing nutritious options for low-income Kentuckians is infused in the staff, board and volunteers throughout the 50 counties the Food Bank serves in Central and Eastern Kentucky.

“Marian has earned the respect of her peers in the community, the state and across the country. She will be missed, but she is leaving the organization in a strong position, both fiscally and programmatically. She also has developed a strong leadership team that will carry forward her work ethic and passion for the mission. We are excited for Marian as she begins a new chapter in her career.”

When Guinn joined God’s Pantry Food Bank as executive director in 1997, the organization was distributing 5 million pounds of food to partner agencies in 48 counties of the state.  In fiscal year 2016, the Food Bank distributed 29.9 million pounds of food and groceries in its 50-county service area.

“I am grateful for the incredible array of experiences I have gathered over the past 19 years as the leader of the Food Bank, setting ambitious goals that have propelled the organization forward,” Guinn said. “I have enjoyed working with an incredible staff, board, volunteers, partner agencies and donors.  I have decided to create my own company, MG Coaching & Consulting, offering a variety of services to develop and strengthen nonprofits, small businesses and their leaders.  I am excited to share what I have learned over three decades as a nonprofit leader, to strengthen the nonprofit sector, helping businesses and leaders achieve more.”

The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors is in the process of hiring a search firm to conduct a national search for the next CEO, and will soon name the interim CEO.
