CENTRAL INTAKE

God’s Pantry Food Bank is unique in that it is a Food Bank which also operates direct service to clients through four food pantries in Fayette County. This program, the original mission of our founder Mim Hunt, today serves an average of 1,700 client households per month. Our pantries are staffed completely by volunteers and the Food Bank manages all of the referrals from social service agencies for this program through our Central Intake office, which relies heavily on support from volunteers as well.

Central Intake volunteers take phone referrals from social service agencies and set clients up for an appointment to pick up food at one of four area pantries. These volunteers input client’s names and sensitive information in our computer system and access a client’s eligibility to receive food.

To volunteer in this area minimal typing skills, computer knowledge and data entry experience is required.

A Central Intake volunteer position does however require a firm commitment to a set time period. There are two shifts per day, Monday – Friday. The shifts are 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m.

We ask that volunteers in Central Intake commit to one day/time shift per week, bi-weekly or monthly.

If you are interested in possibly joining our team as a Central Intake volunteer, taking calls from clients and referring agencies for emergency food assistance, please fill out the volunteer form below.

Once you click the “submit” button, the form will go blank and we will have received your request.

If you do not get a response within 3 business days, please contact us.  859-255-6592
