Testimonials

A few of our agencies share with you how we work together to combat hunger:

“For more than twenty years, Chrysalis House has relied on the services of God’s Pantry Food Bank. Without the assistance provided by God’s Pantry, our long-term substance abuse treatment center for women would be unable to function. Although our agency receives food stamps for the women it serves and also budgets some of our funding for food, we rely on God’s Pantry for staple items such as cereal and juices. In addition to participating in the food bank program, many of our graduates benefit from God’s Pantry emergency food box program. Thanks to this initiative, our low income graduates are able to withstand occasional financial emergencies.” – Vicki M. Jozefowicz, Executive Director, Chrysalis House, Lexington, KY.

“God’s Pantry Food Bank has been a vital part of our Outreach Ministries before and during the six years I have served as Outreach Director. Their prices are affordable and because they deliver our order to the nearby town of Pineville, their service is convenient. God’s Pantry has truly been a God-send to our Outreach Ministry and our community.” – Frankie Blackburn, Outreach Director, Henderson Settlement, Frakes, KY.

“Moveable Feast Lexington began delivering meals to persons living with HIV/AIDS in the Lexington-Fayette County area in October 1998. Since that time we have served more than 5,000 hot meals with particular attention to the specific needs of our clients. Our mission would be impossible without God’s Pantry.” – Michael Thompson, President and Executive Director, Moveable Feast, Lexington, KY.

“The Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) has been serving the people of eastern Kentucky since 1957 with programs that attempt to cut the roots of poverty while promoting the independence and dignity of Appalachians. Today, CAP operates nearly 70 programs including spouse abuse centers, child development, emergency assistance, housing, respite care, adult education, elderly services, education for parents of children with disabilities, community education, advocacy, garden seeds program, and Christmas baskets among others. God’s Pantry has been instrumental in providing for the needs of many of our programs. For example, our residential programs, the spouse abuse shelter and family life shelter, are able to provide for the nutritional needs of participants by utilizing the good quality, low-cost food purchased at God’s Pantry. Other programs, such as our outreach program and child development centers, are able to serve more participants with emergency food baskets and school lunches than we could if we purchased food at a higher cost. The service that God’s Pantry provides allows CAP to keep its costs down and therefore utilize a larger portion of its donor dollars for other program expenses and to serve a large number of people.” – Mike Sanders, President, Christian Appalachian Project
